FAQ
Below you’ll find answers to common questions about repair and restoration for Chesterfield and other leather furniture. If your question isn’t listed, feel free to submit a request — we assess each case based on photos.
How does your photo-based assessment work?
You submit the form and upload up to 3 photos. Based on this, we assess:
- whether repair is technically possible;
- what approach is required (leather repair, colour restoration, padding, springs, etc.);
- an upfront price estimate.
How much does leather repair or restoring a leather sofa cost?
Costs depend on the damage, affected area and the amount of colour/finishing work (e.g., tear repair, colour correction, worn areas).
That’s why we work with photo assessment: you receive an upfront estimate with no obligation.
Can tears, cracks and scratches in leather really be repaired?
Often, yes. We assess the depth/location and leather type. In many cases we can stabilise tears and scratches,
fill where needed and recolour so it looks neat and helps prevent further tearing.
If the leather is extremely dry or deteriorated, repair can be limited or not durable — and we’ll be honest about that.
Can you fix discoloration or colour differences in leather?
Yes, in many cases we can correct colour differences and rebuild the colour. Think sun fading, wear areas or stains that
make leather lighter/darker. We aim for a natural result that matches the existing tone and sheen.
Do you also repair Chesterfield buttons and tufting (capiton)?
Yes. Loose buttons can often be reattached or replaced. For tufting (button tufting/capiton), we can restore the pattern
and tighten it again, depending on the condition of the leather and the underlying structure.
My sofa sags — can you restore the seating comfort?
Yes. Sagging can be caused by padding, webbing, springs or the frame. We can refill/renew padding,
repair springs/webbing or reinforce the frame. Based on photos (and sometimes extra details) we determine what’s needed.
Do you also repair springs, webbing and the frame?
Yes, depending on access and construction. Issues such as sagging seats, creaking sounds or instability may indicate
springs/webbing/frame problems. After assessment we’ll advise what’s feasible and how involved the repair would be.
Do you repair pet damage (scratches, claw marks, dents)?
We assess this case by case. Light to moderate scratches can often be improved with repair and colour work.
Deep scratches or torn leather can be more challenging. We always provide honest guidance on the expected result.
Do you only work on Chesterfield or also other brands?
Chesterfield is our speciality, but we also restore other leather sofas, armchairs and seating.
If you’re unsure, send photos and we’ll let you know if we can help.
Do you collect the furniture or can it be done on-site?
It depends on the type of repair. Some work can be done on-site (depending on the damage and conditions),
while other repairs require workshop conditions. After assessment we’ll advise the best approach.
How long does a repair usually take?
This varies by type of restoration. Small repairs can be quicker; larger restorations take more time.
After assessment we provide an indication of scheduling and turnaround.
How can I improve the accuracy of the assessment?
Send clear photos:
- one overview photo of the full piece;
- close-up(s) of the damage (ideally from 2 angles);
- for colour issues: a photo in daylight.
Is your quote non-binding?
Yes. You receive an assessment and an upfront estimate. You decide afterwards whether you want the repair carried out.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Depending on the type of repair and the condition of the leather, we’ll advise what’s realistic.
We use durable methods, but heavily aged or damaged leather may have a limited lifespan. We discuss this transparently during assessment.
Can you advise on maintenance and protection?
Yes. We can advise on cleaning, conditioning and protection to keep leather looking good longer and to slow wear.
Especially after repair, good maintenance helps preserve the result.
What if my issue isn’t listed?
No problem. Submit your request and add photos. We review every request and let you know whether repair is possible and at what price.
